Lee and Finch

I read this today about Harper Lee, and it brought back all the great things about the book, and most strikingly the character of Atticus Finch.

Atticus is an ideal man, a man as God intended man to be. A man who can be trusted to do the right thing. A man whom everyone singles out because they know he will do the right thing and because they would never have the courage to do the right thing. He is brilliant at his profession as a lawyer, a lawyer with an unflinching mind. A man who looks at injustice, adversity, sorrow and death and treats them with the same calmness of mind. A man who does not judge anyone. A man who tells his young daughter that "It is not ok to hate anyone". Not even Hitler. Bob threatens to kill him and he thinks about the welfare of Bob's children? A man who is always patient and wise. And brings up his two children as a lone parent, and does very well at that. He is one of those characters that stay with you. If there was even one person like that today, there's hope.
